How to play NaijaWaka

Pick an answer, learn why it is correct, and keep your journey moving. NaijaWaka is a Nigerian quiz game you can play in a web browser on your phone or computer.

1. Open the game and choose your adventure

Open NaijaWaka and follow the welcome prompts. Choose Continue to play your next available challenge, or Journey to explore the map. Your current stop has a play symbol; later stops unlock as you progress.

2. Read the question before choosing

Questions cover Nigerian politics, sport, entertainment, business and current affairs. Follow the instruction shown for each challenge: the game includes different question formats, so take a moment to check what you are being asked.

3. Read the explanation beneath the answers

After you choose an answer, the feedback shows the correct answer and a brief explanation below the options. Read it at your own pace, then use the displayed button to continue or try another question.

4. Watch your lives and game money

A wrong answer costs a life and some game money. Keep an eye on the status bar. If you run out of lives, the game shows a waiting period. Optional life packs are available in the shop; check the real price before choosing to pay.

5. Come back for the daily challenge

Choose Daily from the home screen or map navigation for a mixed quiz. The journey and daily challenge give you different ways to put your knowledge to work.

Keep your progress safe

The game saves progress in your browser. Clearing site data can remove locally saved progress, so avoid clearing it while you are playing. Open the Account menu to see the available account and progress options. You can change sound and motion preferences in the game.

Learn from every answer

Use the explanation to understand the person, event or idea behind an answer. Current-affairs facts can change, and the game is for learning and entertainment rather than a live news service. Read what the Nigerian quiz covers if you want to know more before starting.
